Anna Dello Russo’s Watermelon Hat

Anna Dello Russo is definitely my favorite person to outfit-stalk. As the Editor at Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan, she always looks the part, dressing in couture on a daily basis. She’s a favorite subject of famed fashion photographer Scott Schuman and for good reason.

While I haven’t seen any watermelon hats on the runway lately, leave it to ADR to sport one while watching the spring 2011 fashion shows during New York Fashion Week.

Patrick McMullan

This is amazing for two reasons. 1) Who doesn’t love watermelon? Especially SPARKLY watermelon. 2) ADR doesn’t take herself too seriously to wear a watermelon hat.

And I’m pretty sure she’s the only person who could show up to fashion week with a watermelon on her head. Period.

Sienna Miller at London Fashion Week

Sienna Miller looked flawless, as always, at the Matthew Williamson show at London Fashion Week.

Sienna Miller is my ultimate personal-style hero. She always looks so fresh, chic, and effortless. She really understands how to wear clothing and always manages to look just so.. cool. I can’t wait to see the launch of Sienna’s line this week: Twenty8Twelve.  Another thing I love about her: she always has a killer bag. I’m lovinggg this Loewe (Madrid-based handbag designer) Amazona bag.

3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2010 Collection

This season, Phillip Lim was all about the ’70s. Everything about this collection was inspired by the decade of the freespirit, punk rock, bell-bottoms, and disco.

I talk a lot about how much I adore Phillip Lim. I discovered him before he was huge, and I’ve been following his career enthusiastically every step of the way. I’ve previously declared that Phillip Lim is redefining American sportswear, and he continues to prove that, especially in this down-turn economy. Consumers are demanding quality. People no longer want  to shell out $800 for a black cashmere sweater. They want something beautiful, different, unique… Something worth the price. Phillip Lim is filling that need right now by making beautiful clothes (SEE ABOVE) at a unbelievable price point. Luxury is no longer defined by the price, it’s defined by the quality.

I loved Lim’s Fall collection. The nod to the 70s was refreshing and unexpected. I’m sick of seeing 80s inspired collections, and this feels like a breath of fresh air to me. I picture these clothes on a hip, cool-chick version of Mary Tyler Moore.

Mad for Plaid at Marc by Marc Jacobs

Plaid lovers everywhere – REJOICE!
Plaid is still in for Fall 2010, as Marc by Marc Jacobs clearly demonstrated.

This outfit looks like it was stolen from my ultra fashionable friend Chris’ closet. He lives in plaid and cardigans, so naturally – I love this.

This military-inspired coat is phenomenal. It’s perfectly cut and I love the proportions. The swingy bottom is sooo chic.

This entire collection was very clean, preppy, and military-inspired. Another well done collection by MJ.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 Collection

Marc Jacobs is pretty much what NYFW is all about. It’s what we anticipate the most. I spend Sept-Feb and Feb-Sept wondering “What will he do next?”

The critics are all in agreement – Last night, Marc Jacbos knocked one out of the park with his Fall 2010 Collection. The collection is brilliant and wearable. Sublime is the world they’re using to describe it, and I could not agree more.

Joe Zee, Design Director of Elle (@mrjoezee) Tweeted: “Marc, you make me swoon. Tons of amazing cream suits, skirts with volume, grey jersey dresses, furs, luscious knits and delicate organzas.”

I swooned over Marc as well. I could barely narrow down my favorite looks to just a few, which is why I’ve added a gallery of all of my favorite looks below.  But here were my highlights:

This dress was my favorite look of the show. It’s girlish yet flirty. The models walked to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and this frock reminds me of something a chicer version Dorothy would wear down the Yellowbrick Road.

One never knows what to expect at Marc. But this year, the show started right on time, causing Andre Leon Talley to (gasp) STAND.  The set was very minimalist..no bells or whistles from Fashion Weeks Past. The set was made out of cardboard boxes, and there were reportedly no celebs in the crowd, only fashion folk. Also, Marc only cast unknown models, including many that never walked down a runway before! He even plucked two super cool New Yorkers off the streets for this show!

Marc Jacob’s Fall 2010 collection was amazing.

What I Loved at Wang – New York Fashion Week Fall 2010

Last night, Alexander Wang revealed his Fall 2010 Collection at Pier 94. While Wang is ultra-edgy, there were a few things that I absolutely loved and could picture myself wearing. Starting with this luxuriously looking sweater!

The draping is gorgeous. This would definitely be a wise investment for fall. I also loved these two dresses:

The ruching on this is very Phillip Lim, so naturally, I adore. This is the perfect black dress.

Christian Siriano New York Fashion Week 2010

Christian Siriano’s Fall 2010 collection is absolutely stunning. He designs with a simplicity that I love. Siriano opened the show with some edgy (yet, classic) looks. Think… leather jacket and skirt in a ladylike silhouette. And finished with some seriously MAJOR red carpet-worthy evening gowns.

The texture on this dress is divine. I love the contrast with the matte satin on the bodice.

Siriano infused a bit of his “trademark” ruffles into these pieces, which I love.  And for being in his early 20s, Siriano is well on his way to becoming a household name. These evening gowns are just breathtaking. This is easily my favorite collection so far.
