When I Grow Up…

I want to be this chic. This woman has a certain je ne sais quoi, no?

And I want to shop at Lanvin. And live in Paris.

Alice and Wonderland Inspired Beauty

Everyone is anxiously awaiting the March release of Tim Burton’s version of Alice and Wonderland starring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter. To start the frenzy, there was the Tim Burton-dedicated exhibit at the MoMA, and now Alice and Wonderland mania has hit the beauty industry.

This Alice and Wonderland Book of Shadows palate from Urban Decay has a ton of pretty everyday shades, and a few playful ones that are perfect for a night out. I’m dyinggg to dress my eyes up in those electric blue and purple colors.  The “Book” also comes with 2 eyeliner pencils and a Prime Potion. And as a fan of pop-up books, this packaging is absolutely amazing! Creative, fun, and functional, this is my Alice and Wonderland Beauty Must Have.

These glitzy OPI shades are super funky. Very Alice in Wonderland. I’m loving the purple tones in Mad as a Hatter. These polishes will be sure to shine some light on even the dullest of winter days as we anxiously wait for March to travel down the rabbit hole.

Victor and Rolf’s Surrealist Gowns

…Are out of this world, literally.

I nearly gasped when I came across these artfully-minded gowns from Victor and Rolf today on Refinery 29.

Victor & Rolf have always had a reputation for being very avant garde and I’ve always classified them in the “wearable art” category, and these creations are so perfectly surrealist and breathtaking. There’s not much more to say, except… I’d LOVE to see someone actually wear one of these! The image directly above, left is very Lady Gaga. Pair one of these gowns with the infamous surrealist Marc Jacobs shoes, and you’ve got a look that Dali himself would envy.

Heidi Montag’s Plastic Surgery Addiction

Recently, reality TV personality Heidi Montag revealed to People that she is “beyond obsessed” with plastic surgery. She admitted to having an insane TEN procedures in one day.

Look at the difference in these before and afters!

Personally, I think Heidi was cute before, back in the days of Laguna Beach and the earlier seasons of The Hills.

She told People that this is part of her journey to becoming “the best me” and that, “People can say whatever they want, but I’m the one living in my skin.”

This is kind of sad. Shouldn’t becoming “the best me” have something to do with helping others, doing good work, and improving yourself from within? Not having 10 procedures in one day at the age of 23!!! While I’m not knocking plastic surgery forever and saying that I would never do it (I’m 21, I have no idea how saggy my eyes are going to be at the age of 55 – although the idea of going under the knife does make me sick), I think that you’re altering a little but of you when you alter facial features. Maybe she had her father’s nose before… now she sure doesn’t. I think Heidi was cute before, and her look now is ANYTHING but natural. Is all of this plastic surgery really going to make her happy and help her find her “best me?”

Or is she on the fast track to become the next Jenny?

Ah. Let’s hope not.

Golden Globes’ Best Dressed

With the Golden Globes yesterday, Awards Season is officially upon us. These shows are as much about the dresses as they are the winners. Does anyone remember what won Best Picture the year Kate Winslet wore that STUNNING blue Badgley Mischka? No. We remember the dress. (That dress is still one of my all time favorite red carpet moments).

While I may not watch every second of the show, I LOVE watching recaps like E!’s Fashion Police with the hilarious, ridiculous Joan Rivers. I’ll admit that I didn’t catch much of the Globes. It’s not very ‘fashion blogger’ of me, but yesterday I was watching the JETS win a playoff game, if you knew how rare this is, you would not blame me. However, I DID get to see what everyone was wearing. And the ladies were looking quite lovely!

Kate Winslet looking gorgeous in another Yves Saint Laurent number. In my book, she can do no wrong on the Red Carpet.

This nude Atelir Versace number is dazzling on Jennifer Garner. Reminds me of one of my favorite Anne Hathaway looks.

Jennifer Aniston has NEVER looked better. This Valentino frock is perfect for her. And with arm candy like GERARD BUTLER……

Glee’s Dianna Agron looks so ethereal and just pretty in this Reem Acra. I love her hair. Everything about this is understated, simple and perfect!

These were my four favorite looks in the evening. Who did you love?

Rebecca Minkoff is One Fashionable Designer

Rebecca Minkoff not only makes gorgeous leather bags and edgy-yet-sweet frocks, but she also has a killer wardrobe and a finely tuned sense of style (I mean, after all, she is a designer). The designer showcased her favorite looks in a recent Elle.com ‘Wardrobe Chic’ feature. By mixing her own designs with some gorgeous pieces from other designers, Rebecca Minkoff dresses exactly how I would picture her to dress based on her creations: a little bit tough, mixed with something slightly unexpected.. for looks that are a whole lot of chic. Take a look!

Rebecca wears an Alexander Wang jacket, Nicholas K dress, Juan Antonio Lopez Boots, and her own Morning After Bag

My What I Wore Inspired Post

So as you lovely readers know, I’m obsessed with the blog What I Wore. I mentioned how I’ve been trying new things and incorporating some different things (you know, the kind of stuff I’m in love with, but everyone else thinks is ugly!) into my look mainly because of how much I love this blog! So here is my What I Wore dedicated/inspired post.

Why: Because I was bored on a Saturday afternoon.

What: Cardigan: Target.
Shirt: The Gap
Skirt: Target? On major sale. I think I paid $4.
Scarf: Forever 21?
Tights: Target. They’re amazing. Super thick and warm!
Jewelry: Necklaces; Lagos (long) Kim Last Designs (short). Bracelets; Rebecca Minkoff (blue leather), Lagos.
Sunglasses: Coach, birthday gift
Shoes: Etienne Aigner, DSW a few years ago

The Look: I’ve had these gorgeous Berry colored opaque tights for a while, and I was just waiting for the perfect time to test them out, which happened to be today. They’re bold and definitely look-at-me, but with the neutral palette of this outfit, I think I can handle it. I’m ready to make these a permanent fixture in my wardrobe. Jessica of What I Wore ALWAYS wears some kind of awesome, patterned or colored tight, so that part of the look was definitely inspired by her.

I was hanging out inside while my sister was snapping these pictures (she’s not a bad photographer, for 15 years old) but we decided to head to the backyard and see how things were looking there. I threw on my favorite cream colored scarf and sunglasses, and that completed the look! This cardigan is an old favorite, I found it at Target last year for $7. I wear it everywhere: to the library, to class, when I’m home in my sweats, and now with this skirt and tights ensemble! Definitely a versatile favorite of mine, and I keep finding ways to breathe new life into it!

So there you have it, my What I Wore inspired post.
