Blog/Style Crush: What I Wore

I have a serious blog/style crush on Jessica Schroeder of What I Wore. I love everything about this site, and Ms. Schroeder. Almost everyday Jessica takes a picture of what she’s wearing. The concept is simple, but Jessica’s sense of personal style is truly inspirational. She’s confident, creative, and easy to relate to. And I kind of love her. She’s been inspiring me to try new things and works some quirky pieces into my wardrobe.

She’s also big on thrifting and incorporating vintage pieces into her looks, which I’ve been getting into. There’s something so exciting about finding an item that you know is one-of-a-kind. It makes me feel special!

I can’t really explain why I love What I Wore so much, but trust me… keep reading. Scroll through and be inspired by all of Jessica’s creative and fun looks. Jessica’s also started putting out newsletters, and they really speak to why she has this blog: It’s more than just pretty clothes, it’s about having the confidence to wear them. In her December newsletter she says,

“My purpose is to use my empathy and quirkiness to inspire and encourage women to feel good about their bodies and self image and express confidence in themselves.”

My New Year’s Resolution: To dress for me, and shake things up a little bit. Because this blog has had a major influence on me.

TSwift with Straight Hair and Bangs!

I’m absolutely LOVING Taylor Swift’s new look: straight hair with bangs. She looks so much older and sophisti-classy (word coined by Jonotjoe).

Seriously. This look makes me wish I had long hair again! And since we rarely see Taylor in anything but her signature curls, I can’t help but love how she’s shakin’ things up.

Also, can we discuss her outfit? And her shoes? I’m LOVING the oxfords right now. I recently picked up a vintage pair of cognac colored oxies similar to hers, minus the perforation. They seriously go with everything. And I love the clicky noise they made as I’m walking around. And I put these Steven Madden’s on my XMas List. (I think she might actually be wearing this exact pair)

Oh and one more thing I’m obsessed with right now: HEAD TO TOE BLACK. Taylor looks awesome and appropriate in tights and a black blazer.

I’ve always been a black kinda girl, everything in my wardrobe is based off of black. It makes it easy when buying bags and shoes because I don’t need to look for the brown equivalents. Reese Witherspoon looks effortless and classy in this head-to-toe black look, accentuated (of course) with a divine Rebecca Minkoff Clutch.

Taylor Swift Covers New York Times Style

The glam and oh so sweet Taylor Swift covers this Sunday’s issue of the New York Times Style magazine. Taylor looks fierce (but kind of adorable at the same time) with huge pig tails, smoldering blue eye shadow, and the perfect red lip.

In the magazine she discusses her role in the movie Valentine’s Day. Last week, I enjoyed watching Taylor’s NYT Style interview, part of their ongoing series. She was so down to earth and well spoken. I’m seriously convinced that she and I would be best friends if we met, and my name would work itself into some of her song lyrics like Abigal’s! In the video interview she discusses her childhood obsessed with The Little Mermaid, which I also was obsessed with as a baby/toddler.

Watch the video here. I promise it’s heart warming & adorable.

Vena Cava for Converse (Product) RED

I’ve been thinking about purchasing a pair of Converse sneakers for quite some time… I know practically everyone has them, but I can never seem to find a cute, wearable sneaker, so they seem like a safe bet. Luckily, Vena Cava (one of my favorite labels) has answered my call for a unique pair of Converse with these:

I LOVE that these Chuck’s are adorned with the Havisu print that has become synonomous with the Vena Cava girls, Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock. This is an unexpected addition to a classic pair of sneakers. These will be perfect for running errands or styling with a blazer and awesome accessories. Another plus, 10% of the $75 price tag goes towards The Global Fund to Fight Aids.

I’m adding these to my Christmas List!

Lady Gaga Covers January 2010 Elle!

My favorite songstress, Lady Gaga, covers the January 2010 cover of Elle. What a way for the magazine to ring in the New Year!  (I’ll be celebrating 2010 on January 24th at Radio City Music Hall with live Lady Gaga and the dance party of a lifetime).

I’m not going to spend this entire post gushing about how much I love Lady Gaga, but she’s just amazing, for lack of a better word. Phenomenal in every single way. She’s talented, and she is the definition of a fashion rebel, and I LOVE everything about her.

She looks gorgeous on the cover of Elle, and this is a side of her we haven’t seen before!

If you haven’t already… pick up the Fame Monster RIGHT NOW. Because you’re seriously missing out.

These are a few of my favorite (Warm & Cuddly) things!

The change from fall to winter is happening. I’m living my life in over sized cardigans and doubly wrapped scarves, and I couldn’t be happier.

Lately, I’ve been having a serious weakness for ANYTHING warm and cuddly.
I’m currently addicted to the following:

1. My Snuggie. My zebra print designer Snuggie has been my best friend these past few weeks… keeping me warm while I read and knit Christmas gifts! I know Snuggies are ridiculous, but they are actually awesome.

2. Warm CARDIGANS. If cardigan was a brand, trust me, I’d be spearheading their PR campaign. There is nothing a cardigan can’t solve in the wintertime. Not sure what to wear? Throw on an oversized cardi, skinnies, and booties and you are set, and chic. Relaxing at home or studying for finals? A cardigan, leggings, and wool socks is the perfect outfit to help you focus on comfort. This season, the Gap has a wonderful and affordable selection. I’m definitely tacking all of these onto my Christmas List!

3. Chunky Knit Scarves, preferably homemade! You’ll save yourself a TON of money this season if you can learn how to knit or crochet, and it’s kind of fun! I love coming home after a stressful day and knitting away! I made this soft, chunky knit scarf for myself to see me through the winter months. It’s just your basic knit row stitch, but it’s cute and keeps me warm!

4. These adorable Panda socks from Urban Outfitters just make me happy. And they’re warm. And pandas are my favorite animal …. BESIDES (see below)

Urban Outfitters - $14

5. LAST.. but not least… my favorite warm & cuddly thing… KIRBY! My adorable, curly haired Cockapoo

He is the definition of a lap dog. Sit on the couch, and he will be in your lap in seconds… keeping you company and keeping you warm.

Happy December Everyone! May it be warm & cuddly.
