Rebecca Minkoff Darling is Divine in Wine

I’ve been crushing on the Rebecca Minkoff DARLING bag since this summer. I love the slouchy shape, luscious leather, and perfectly placed details. The zipper down the front, the hardware, the tassels. It is, in a nutshell, my PERFECT bag. Slouchy, wonderful, and super chic of course.

It is a known fact that my favorite-ever RM shade is WINE. The color is breathtaking. Seriously. I’ve lusted after the Wine Matinee, but unfortunately, I’m not VHudg so the quest has been elusive. I hyperventilate at the sight of any Wine RM bag (I wish I was kidding).

This season, the Darling Bag comes in Wine. And since I have a very big 21st Birthday coming up… I am contemplating the purchase. I deserve it right?

Fashion Week Recap!

*Sigh…* Another New York Fashion Week has come and gone. Here were my favorite highlights of the week!

Favorite Show: 3.1 Phillip Lim
Why? Because in my book, Phillip can do no wrong. The clothes say it all…

Favorite Dress: Christian Siriano
Why? Because this dress is basically…perfection. I took one look at it and gasped. It’s gorgeous, and nothing caught my eye quite like this did. Siriano is talented, and this dress is SO elegant.

Favorite Front Row Celeb: Lauren Conrad
Why? Because she really is gorgeous in person! I spotted her at Rebecca Minkoff, and couldn’t help but envy her (probably faux) glow and long, perfectly tousled waves.

Coolest (sounding) Party: Marc Jacobs and V Magazine Party
Why? Because word on the street is that Marc’s parties are the best. My invitation must’ve gotten lost in the mail? And… Lady Gaga was there.

Strangest Show: The SNUGGIE SHOW
Why? Because if you were debating on buying a Snuggie before — now you have no excuse. THIS is fall’s must have. And at $14.95, how could you argue with that?

Best ‘Round the Clock NYFW Coverage: Nymag’s THE CUT, of course.
Why? Because The Cut and nymag.com’s Fashion Week Coverage was SO thorough. The Fug Girls provided us with the gossip, slideshows from every show were posted basically in real time, and with clickable features like this interactive Fashion Week Schedule, I felt like I didn’t miss a beat. They Tweeted, posted, and made me laugh, as always.

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2010 RTW Impresses

The name Phillip Lim is becoming synonymous with American Sportswear. Season after season, he produces well constructed, unique pieces that have wearability at their core. He is brilliant at taking classic shapes and updating them, and also creating signature silhouettes that have made their way into every well-versed fashionistas “at a glance” repertoire (aka: you should be able to spot a Phillip Lim dress from a block away).

Season after season, Lim has produced sustainable fashion. New twists on classics that have proven to be good investments, and this collection was no different….

Cutie. Phillip Lim, I just love you. Can we be best friends?

I loved the red runway. And the delicious red soles gracing the bottom of these delicious Loubs. And there were quite a few celebs in the front row:

Rodarte Spring 2010 Ready to Wear

Haven’t you ever seen a designers collection and thought… “wow, I wonder what was going through their minds as they designed this collection?” Many a times I’ve wanted to be a fly on the wall inside a designers brain, and this is exactly how I felt when I was looking over the Rodarte Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection. Kate and Laura Mulleavy really outdid themselves this time. I’ve always loved the Rodarte girls because they always bring something different to the table, and this collection is definitely different.

According to Womens Wear Daily, the Mulleavy sisters were inspired by the big, black, bald California Condors that faced extinction in the late 80s. Laura Mulleavy told WWD that, “We just kept thinking about how they had to scavenge to survive,” she said. “If they were mangled and tattered, how they would be reborn.” Dark and mildly disturbing, check. Another memorable season under the Rodate sisters’ belts, also check.

Rodarte is all about construction. And these pieces take that theme to a whole new level. They’re so intricate, you have to stare, zoom in, and think about how this was all pieced together.

Isn’t it crazy that the same girls that dressed Natalie Portman in this perfect, pretty, sugar plum-like chiffon confection also created these SUPER edgy looks? While I do think this collection was inspired, I kind of miss the sweet and pretty side of Rodarte. They’ve been doing edgy for a while.

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2010 Ready to Wear – New York Fashion Week

Today was undoubtedly the highlight of my NY Fashion Week experience. Rebecca Minkoff unveiled her Spring 2010 Ready to Wear collection at Studio 360. I know, I’m a Minkette through and through, so I my opinion MAY be a little biased, but I loved everything about her spring collection.

Very rarely can a designer showcase a collection highlighting so many different trends and get it right. We saw fierce animal prints, punky leather jackets, edgy leather mini skirts, floral prints, and shoulder pads all in one show. And it was fabulous.  The animal prints and florals were flamboyant and daring, and there were also well designed basics and some super sexy cocktail dresses. Here were some of my favorite looks:

LOVE this leather skirt. The edgy fabric paired with a sweet, traditional silhouette is very good girl gone bad, and definitely more wearable (and classy) than a skintight leather mini. The ruffled top just adds to the angel/devil aesthetic, and I love it.

I.Love.This.Dress. This is the kind of thing I go nuts for. The shape is a classic, and the one shouldered is very of the moment (think: classic Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung, etc.) And of course, it has the perfect amount of embellishment. I feel like that’s something that Rebecca Minkoff always executes perfectly — classic shapes, updated with embellishments that don’t go overboard.

Note the MAJOR shoulder pads. And sexy over-the-knee boots. Love it.

This leather jacket is perfect. A staple that is seasonless and will last for years and years. Just think of your favorite, well loved MAB as a jacket. Doesn’t get better than that….

Loving the floral and animal prints!

For the RTW collection, Rebecca drew inspiration from the early 90s runway shows, which were extravagant and colorful, to say the least. She was inspired by the dark and quirky early Tim Burton films, and Peter Lindbergh photographs of supermodels Claudia, Cindy, Helenda, Naomi, and Tatiana.  Models wore easy hairstyles like this Claudia Schiffer look from the 90s, and most of the models were also working Brooke Shields style eyebrows and minimal makeup.

This collection was all about pretty meets edgy… and it was well done. Bravo Rebecca!

See what Rebecca Minkoff has in store for her spring handbag collection. And see which celebs were spotted at the show!

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2010 Handbags – New York Fashion Week

The new bag designs coming from RM are perfect, of course. They’re definitely funky, and I like it. There were a lot of studded varieties, and even a leopard print cross body. There were a few new shapes, like the Mini Matinee. I love the Matinee bag, and the mini version is adorable. More Rebecca Minkoff Classics to covet, wear, and love. These are going to be HUGE.

It was a great show, and there was some major celebrity presence. GERARD BUTLER, yes… the sexiest man alive, was mingling with fashionistas backstage while Lauren Conrad and posse and Michelle Tractenberg enjoyed the show. Danielle from the Real Housewives of NJ was also there… Word is that her daughter was modeling in the show. The vibe was fun and relaxed, no reserved seating, just a bunch of fashionistas ogling gorgeous leather bags and inspired RTW looks.

The woman of the afternoon – Rebecca Minkoff. Michelle Trachtenberg is wearing a top from Rebecca’s previous RTW collection. Lauren Conrad also rocked the same top, but with leather leggings… it was 80 degrees out today. I’m sure taking those babies off was no fun. But really…

Another wonderful part of the day…. I GOT A REBECCA MINKOFF STUDDED BRACELET IN THE GIFT BAG! Look for these babies in November.

Long story short,  I love Rebecca Minkoff. I’ve been a fan of her leather handbag creations for a while, and her Spring 2010 Ready to Wear Collection was inspired.

Christian Siriano – New York Fashion Week

I’ll admit it: I’m not a huge follower/fan of Project Runway. I don’t usually tune in… Designers win every year, but do they impress the industry after their coveted unveiling at Bryant Park? Do they show at the tents the next season? Do we remember them?

Even though I don’t remember Christian Siriano from Project Runway, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of him after the PR legacy wears off.

This could very well be my favorite look of all of NYFW so far..
