I’m obsessed with all things Rebecca Minkoff — this is a fact. But the designers newest installment to her growing leather/handbag/ready to wear empire is something to get excited about… BRACELETS!
Let me just say it now… these bracelets are going to be HUGE. They will be on the wrists of everyone, from that super chic girl on the subway to Lauren Conrad. They’re funky and edgy and of course… chic. They are perfection.
Here’s a sneak peak from Minkette.com (join now if you haven’t already!)
Another thing to love: bracelets this beautiful can be ECO FRIENDLY as well. The bracelets are made from excess leather and hardware. Further proving how awesome Rebecca Minkoff and these bracelets are!
I can’t wait to get my hands.. in them 🙂
Finally…. The September 2009 cover of VOGUE has been leaked.
The cover girl: Charlize Theron.
The cover: amazing.
Vogue - September 2009
I truly love this cover. The cover girl isn’t someone we’ve seen recycled on the newsstands over and over, month after month. And her expression is perfect, and so typically VOGUE. I can’t wait to get my hands on an issue. And while ad pages are down this year, Vogue is still said to be the biggest September issue. (Elle is 100 pages smaller)
Keep your eyes on the newsstands and your mailboxes ladies!
I’ll admit that I want a pair of Louboutins or the latest Chanel bag as much as the next girl… and in this economy, everyone is making sacrifices — But how far would you take it? In Japan, women do crazy things (literally) for their designer conquests.
This month, Marie Claire reported that 25 year old Keiko Onishi of Japan landed in the hospital due to her unhealthy accessory obsession. In March, she collapsed after starving herself so that she could afford a limited edition Gucci bracelet watch. She ate nothing but miso soup for weeks, and she was diagnosed with severe malnutrition and dehydration.
Unfortunately, this is most likely part of a trend in Japan, which makes up 40% of all luxury good sales worldwide. Marie Claire also reports that around half of women in their 20s in Tokyo own a Louis Vuitton. HALF. That’s a huge number of women toting around $1000+ bags.
This is ridiculous, and scary. I love fashion, and I lust over designer items. But I know that certain things are not within my means. I will not be able to afford those amazing Rodarte boots this season, and I’m OK with that. I don’t think that having a designer-ladden wardrobe should be equated with style, as it seems to be in Japan. You can walk around NYC in an outfit entirely from H&M, and look fabulous. I don’t get this designer obsession… Style is style. You either have it, or you don’t… and it has nothing to do with how expensive your wardrobe is.
Would this make you starve yourself?
It is a well known fact that the Rodarte girls are my favorite designing duo. They’ve taken the fashion world by storm and won a well deserved CFDA Award this year. Their designs are truly unique (something that is hard to come by in the fashion world…) and their clothes actually make you think. They are simply…amazing. Season after season I oogle their dresses, boots, jackets, etc. And then I realize that I will never be able to afford any of these beautiful frocks anytime in the near future. Yet some genius at Target has answered this broke college girl’s prayers…
This designer collaboration has me more excited than ever. While Matthew Williamson for H&M excited me, as did other collabs, but this one THRILLS me. RODATE. FOR. TARGET. Gosh I almost think I’m dreaming. The collection will land in stores December 20th, just in time for the holiday season. Pieces will range in price from $9.99 for knee highs to $79.99 for a leopard print jacket. I absolutely cannot wait. Counting down the days….
Brilliant. See you at Target December 20th.
