With the economic climate in this state of disarray, and with the workforce about to become 1.2 million people overcrowded, charities like Bottomless Closet NYC are helping properly dress and prepare women previously on public assistance for entry into the workforce.
The charity was inspired by an 1996 NYT article about the obstacles mothers relying on public assistance face when looking for jobs. The Bottomless Closet NYC attempts to lessen the financial burden of interview attire and accessories by providing women with two interview outfits. Once they land the job, 3 more outfits are provided. The Bottomless Closet NYC also helps women build their resumes and teaches interviewing skills.
Ladies, start your spring cleaning! The Bottomless Closet NYC always accepts clothing donations. So sort through your weekday wardrobe and donate last season’s wear. While it may be collecting dust in your closet, your outfit could make a difference in someone’s life!
