Mary Kate Olsen: Day to Night Look

Yesterday, Mary Kate Olsen was spotted by paps getting iced coffee with her boyfriend, Nate Lowman, in NYC… Later that night she attended the MoMA Benefit for Tim Burton (I cannot wait to check out his exhibition starting November 22nd)!

MK carried her Hermes Birkin all day, because let’s face it… If I owned a Birkin I would literally sleep with it. She kept her black hat and traded natural lips for a vampy red. She subbed her oversized black coat for a glam leopard topper. What do you think of MK’s day-to-night transition?

 

 

 

Happy 1st Birthday to My BLOG!

Yesterday, my blog turned one year old! Cheers to that.

I was inspired to start this blog exactly one year ago, when I attended my second New York Women in Communications Student Career Conference. Every year I leave these conferences full of inspiration: Linda Wells, EIC of Allure, inspired me to pursue a career in magazines in 2007, and in 2008, Amy Odell, Editor of NyMag’s The Cut inspired me to start blogging about what I love: fashion, style, and magazines.

So thanks, Amy for motivating me to get this started! It’s been a year, but this is just the beginning.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOG! I love you. And today was a great day for a few reasons….

1. I got the ultimate encouraging text from my friend S this morning: “So last night I read through your entire blog all the way to your first entry. Is that creepy much?” No S – it’s not creepy. It’s adorable, and motivating!

2. I treated myself to a Rebecca Minkoff Bracelet (Loop Bracelet in Florescent Blue) that I ordered from Luna Boston! The bracelet came adorably packaged in a polka dot RM bag, and came with a sweet treat from LB: Swedish Fish! And I finally called the number on the back of the infamous “Vincent Card.”

It’s been a truly fabulous year for me and my blog. Big thank you to my readers, friends, and supporters! And the people in the fashion industry who are always inspiring me.

Chris Pine Covers GQ

The always-sexy Chris Pine covers the December issue of GQ. The magazine named him 2009′s Breakout Star of the Year, and it’s easy to see why. With a high profile role in Star Trek, and a truly unparalleled sexiness factor, he is breakout man of the year in my book.

I’ve always been into Chris Pine’s casual, effortless look. I’m a sucker for a boy in a plaid button down, sneakers, and Ray Bans. But he looks divine on the cover:

This issue highlights the magazines “Men of the Year” and the list includes some notably accomplished, well-dressed men like Bradley Cooper, Barack Obama, Clint Eastwood, and Tom Brady.

I’ll be picking up my copy of GQ ASAP. I know it’s a men’s magazine… but this is a win-win: sexy men and great writing.

 

Adriana Lima and Marko Jaric Welcome Baby Valentina

Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima and husband Marko Jaric welcomed their baby girl Valentina into the world on Sunday in New York City, according to People.

“Adriana and Marko are thrilled to announce they had a baby girl, Valentina Lima Jaric,” a rep told People. “Mother, father and baby are all doing well.”

Lima and Jaric eloped in Wyoming on February 14, 2009, and Lima found out she was expecting shortly after their honeymoon (hence the name Valentina perhaps???)

No doubt that their baby will be as beautiful as VS’ prettiest Angel! Congrats to the happy couple

 

Blake Lively covers Marie Claire

I’ll admit — I have a HUGE girl crush on Blake Lively. Let’s face it.. she’s gorgeous. Tall, blond, perfect, cute boyfriend, killer style. I once tried to grow my hair to Blake Lively lengths, and failed miserably (that’s why I sport a bob now). Anyway, the starlet graces the December cover of Marie Claire, and the November cover of Nylon, and looks amazing and radiant on both.

The way you dress is so bold. You seem very comfortable with yourself right now. Living in New York, I feel stronger and more like a woman than ever before. In high school, it was like, what power do I have – I have long blonde hair, you know? But working as hard as I do now, I feel a sense of power and respect, too. And I’ve learned an incredible amount about fashion on Gossip Girl. Clothes are a personal expression, and my style is as ever-changing as I am: I’m growing, maturing, developing, I’m going through new things in my life, and with that, what I choose to wear changes.

I’ve always admired Blake for owning the clothes she wears. She takes risks, but always manages to look stunning, even when her outfits don’t necessarily work for me. She’s confident and has a great sense of personal style.

Shadowplay Jewelry Stands Out

I do love jewelry as much as the next girl, but it takes something extra special to really catch my eye. This morning, Daily Candy featured Shadowplay Jewelry, and I was immediately impressed, and compelled to purchase!

Designer Heather Goldberg creates something truly unique in her pieces. Each piece is an intricate web of yarn, Swarovski crystals, etc. I really have never seen jewelry like this!
